...and they lived happily ever after

There is inside you all of the potential to be whatever you want to be, all of the energy to do whatever you want to do.
Imagine yourself as you would like to be, doing what you want to do, and each day, take one step towards your dream.
And though at times it may seem too difficult to continue, hold on to your dream.
One morning you will awake to find that you are the person you dreamed of, doing what you wanted to do, simply because you had the courage to believe in your potential and to hold on to your dream.

Mara's Birthday Celebration

For Mara's birthday, we decided to not have a party...instead we had a girls weekend. Mara invited 3 friends with her for some fun at the Galleria. We got a hotel room at the Westin Oaks Hotel (one of the hotels inside of the galleria). Mara had no idea you could actually spend the night in the Galleria....every girls dream. Shop, sleep, shop...lol. We checked into our hotel @5pm Saturday, ate dinner at the Galleria Chili's, shopped, ice skated, shopped, slept, shopped. It was a great time. Dad stayed with us until bed time, then headed home. 5 little girls in one hotel room was a little too much for him. We danced, sang, laughed, ate junk food. Mara told me last night, "thank you for my birthday trip, it was so much fun".....that made it all worth it. I love that little girl.

My Mara turned 12 yrs old

Yesterday December 19th Mara turned 12yrs old. Wow how the years have flown by. This year she has changed the most...she's truly becoming a woman. Such a good friend to me. I love having her in my life. Once upon a time, it was just Mara and I. A single teen mother living at home with my parents. We really have grown up together and because of that, I think we have an amazing bond. She is a blessing in my life and I'm so glad God choose me to be Mara's mother.

Mara and a self portrait she took today!

Cayman's School Christmas party

Thursday was Cayman's 4th grade Christmas party at school. Jason and I took the day off work to join in on the fun. It's not much longer we get to enjoy this. Now that Mara is in junior high, she doesn't get to do anything Christmas related at school:( So we must enjoy it with Cayman while we can.

Choir concerts

Last week Mara and Cayman had their Christmas choir performances at school. Mara's was short and simple....more grown up Christmas songs. She enjoyed it, but later told me it really isn't her type of music, she's thinking about taking drama class next year instead.
Cayman auditioned for a dancing part in her choir performance. I was so proud of her. She is my shy child. She can do anything, she just needs that extra push to get there. Mara auditioned for the choir solo last year without saying a word to me. Cayman however needed a little persuading from me. After she was chosen, she was very happy she auditioned. She did so good and had so much fun.

Cayman showing her support for her sister...she was so excited to be there...lol

The Polar Express Train Ride

Saturday December 12th our whole family met in Palestine, TX for a train ride on The Polar Express. It was so much fun. Jason and I just sat back and watched the kids excitement. We had hot chocolate, cookies, sang Christmas carols and danced. We definitely have to go back next year. What great memories!

Work Christmas Party

Friday night Jason and I went to my work Christmas party at the Hilton in Clear Lake. We had a good time dancing, laughing, talking and eating good food. It was nice to get away from the work environment with everyone for awhile.

Pointe

Mara Lee is our dancer. She loves it. Entertaining is her life. Singing, dancing and acting is her passion. She loves make-up, clothes, shoes, jewelry, music...etc. I'm anxious to see what she does in life. This month Mara started pointe ballet. She did months of ankle strengthening before she was able to actually put the pointe shoes on. It looks so beautiful and graceful in all the ballets I've seen. Little do most of us know, behind the beautiful costumes and perfect bodies, is a lot of pain and hard work. It took Mara and I ONE hour at the dance store for her to be fitted for the perfect pointe shoe. It's a HUGE deal to have your pointe shoes fit perfect. If not, you will end up in sever pain and with possible life long feet problems. Who knew? Anyway, I will take pictures of Mara during her pointe class soon. The dance studio is a little funny about pictures being taken during class but...I will try to get some.

Thanksgiving in Danbury

This Thanksgiving we started a new tradition. About 40 family members and close friends went to the Lodge at Danbury. It was a blast. We fished, made a campfire, played board games, cooked, watched movies....etc. It's a great place for family time and it's VERY relaxing.
