Happy Birthday Jason

Happy 3rd...oh wait 33rd birthday Jason...ha ha j/k. Today we celebrated Jason's birthday by hanging around the house. Just like every other Sunday pretty much. I made chicken alfredo...Jason's favorite meal that I cook. Also Cayman made him a cake. All by herself let me add. I didn't help her one single time. Our Mara is too Junior High now to help me in the kitchen but...she did participate in singing him Happy Birthday!

First day of school 2009

Mara started junior high this year. She's officially a big 6 th grader....and has officially learned how to get her locker open...ha ha! It's such a struggle for so many of them. Jason took Mara to her orientation and when they got home he said, "she may never get her locker figured out". Well, after only 1 day, she got it down perfectly. It's a huge transition from elementary to junior high. Junior high years can be so hard. I pray Mara makes good decisions and stays confident. I want to protect her from everything and Jason tells me, it's just part of life and these years will be part of who she becomes. So, I guess I need to realize I have to let her go a little more. However, as of right now Mara is really excited and loving school.

Cayman started 4th grade. She is also very excited so far. She has one of her good friends in her class and yesterday she had a play date with her. The little girls mom is a teacher at Cayman's school, so she got to stay after school for awhile and play. Sounds like it was a ton of fun for them. Fourth grade is the year you can start doing more at school...such as student council, choir, the SWAT team...etc. I'm anxious to see what Cayman will choose to do.

Hope the girls have a GREAT school year!

Mara's 1st day of Kindergarten with Misty...her protector for 6 years (can't you move to the junior high now Misty...ha ha?). She put up a good fight for Mara and Cayman a few times at school over the years. We are lucky to have you Misty...thank you!

Handy Man?

Wow, do I have a handy man after all???? Probably not, except when I annoy Jason into making something for me. I have been wanting a headboard for awhile now. The headboard that matches my furniture was around $400, not too bad, but really there wasn't anything too special about it. So...I thought making a headboard would save me about $350 and I would love it a lot more. Here is what Jason made,it matches my furniture perfectly and I love, love, love it because Jason made it...haha! How rewarding it was for him, now maybe he will be inspired to do more.

George Strait

For my 30th birthday last month, my mom gave me George Strait concert tickets (thanks again mom)...how awesome! Ever since I was a little girl I have loved, loved, loved George Strait. Not sure what it is exactly, just the combination of his voice when he sings and his classy good looks. He's just so cool, calm and collected all the time....ha ha! The concert was at Reliant Stadium this past Saturday. It was a sold out concert of over 71,000 people. Jason and I had floor tickets which was an even better experience. Our neighbors in the seats next to us were the best. A happy couple only married 3 yrs from Happy, Texas. Their kids gave them tickets for their wedding anniversary and they drove 12 hrs to see George in Houston. The women and I told each other stories about how much and how long we've loved George Strait...lol! I think we were instant best friends...hahaha! We had so much fun and George was AMAZING. Thank you God for giving us George Strait....he he he!

Had to break out the boots I don't get to wear very much.

Our new friends aren't they cute!

He had every women there completely mesmerized....haha!

The Lake

Oh how I love the lake! The family and I spent the past week on a much needed vacation at Inks Lake. Every year since I've known Jason and many, many years before that the family has head up to the hill country for a relaxing vacation at Inks Lake state park. I love the sunsets on the lake, I love floating in the Lake , riding on the jet ski, going to Devils water hole, eating good food, reading a good book by the water, and watching my kids enjoy the great outdoors until the sun goes down. I really felt energized returning to work today. It's good to get away from the city life, job, bills, traffic, t.v., Internet.....and just listen to the sweet sounds of summer. Here are some of my favorites pics from the lake this year.....
